The very first hole offers a scenic view and requires a carry of 140 to 210 yards over water and marsh depending on the various tee marker locations. A drive must avoid the fairway bunker on the left. The approach shot is to a slightly elevated green that usually requires one more club. The best play is to aim for the right center of the green. Any shot over the green will create a very difficult recovery to a slippery downhill green.
